ABOUT

OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF ANTENATAL EDUCATION SO THAT YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE EXPERTS, MAKE FRIENDS FOR LIFE AND APPROACH PARENTHOOD FEELING CALM, CONFIDENT AND INFORMED.

At Bump to Cradle, we believe that antenatal classes should be relaxed and sociable but also truly informative - delivering evidence based information from highly trained, experienced and knowledgeable experts.

We offer a comprehensive course, superior to traditional antenatal classes, packed with up-to-date, balanced information.

Through Bump to Cradle, we aim to empower parents-to-be, helping them feel supported and informed and able to get the most out of this amazing and truly transformative time.

Your pregnancy, labour and the first few months with your newborn can be an anxiety-inducing and challenging time and we strive to ensure that you feel as prepared and as confident as can be.

Hannah Jackson

Hi, I’m Hannah, one of the owners of Bump to Cradle and mum to Cora, who is three.

I attended Bump to Cradle when I was pregnant with Cora. I wanted to attend a practical and balanced antenatal course to help ease my nerves mainly about giving birth (I have the lowest pain tolerance and don’t even have my ears pierced!) but I found that the course provided a lot more as it also helped with the transition to becoming a parent. I felt very fortunate to have a group of people to message late at night, especially in those early days with WhatsApp chats about engorged boobs, breastfeeding, cabbage leaves, bottle feeding, poo colours, sleep exhaustion and box set recommendations when stuck in a dark room for hours on end.

Having had Cora, I am thrilled to now be one of the owners of Bump to Cradle and with my business partner, Lucy, can champion expectant parents with an evidence based, balanced and practical education to help guide them through pregnancy, birth and the new-born period as well as providing an opportunity for expectant parents to build their own network of peer support, which we believe is more important than ever.

Lucy Hull

Hi, I’m Lucy, one of the owners of Bump to Cradle and mum to two little boys. It is safe to say Hannah and I have known each other a while. We attended school together, ended up going to the same university, are god parents to each others children and now on our Bump to Cradle adventure together.

Bringing home a newborn child is like nothing else, added to which your own body and mind, as well as daily life, is shifting through some pretty dramatic changes. The initial newborn days can be spent deliriously happy and deliriously exhausted!

Since the birth of my second baby, I’ve realised there is a real need for honest and balanced antenatal classes. By giving mums-to-be and their birth partners the opportunity to meet and ask questions from a whole team of local experts including midwives, Consultant Obstetricians, Feeding and Sleep Consultants, my hope is that Bump to Cradle helps you feel informed and gives you the confidence to have a positive birth, whatever type of labour or birth experience you have.

Hannah and I are really proud to offer Bristol’s only multi-expert led antenatal classes. We aim to find the balance between medical expertise, unbiased practical advice and new friends to take with you through pregnancy and into parenthood.

Helen Wilkie

Hi, I’m Helen I’m really happy to be joining the Bump to Cradle team as a host. I’m a student midwife and I love learning about pregnancy and parenting, before starting university I worked in a nursery.

I’ve learnt how important antenatal education is and I’m particularly interested in providing holistic mental health care, continuity of care and improving accessibility in maternity services. One of my favourite experiences of midwifery so far was when a mother arrived at an antenatal education class dressed as a mermaid (I think it was world book day!).

When I’m not at uni or working, I love going for brunch with family and friends, church, yoga and watersports (I’m awful at surfing but I love it).

I still have lots to learn before graduating so this will be a helpful opportunity for me to learn with you all.

Reshma Swan

Hi I'm Reshma, mum to Ashwin, 7 and Amira 5, navigating my way through this rollercoaster world of parenting!

I'm so excited to be part of the Bump to Cradle journey. I'll be a host at both the Redland and Bedminster venues. From the few sessions I have already attended, I have learnt things that would have made my pregnancy journey that little bit easier.

Nothing can quite prepare you for those early newborn days, however some guidance on what to expect will give you the confidence you need, aswell as the solidarity from your group to muddle your way through the highs and lows. My top tips are to ask for help if you need it, schedule some time for yourself each day and enjoy the baby cuddles because as the saying goes, they grow up way too quickly!
